Job Description
SUMMARY:
Seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) specializing in Blood Bank for a 13-week travel assignment. This role is ideal for a seasoned traveler with extensive blood bank experience who can confidently work independently on night shifts in a high-volume, Level I Trauma acute care hospital.
The successful candidate will perform complex immunohematology testing, blood component preparation, compatibility testing, and transfusion support while ensuring compliance with laboratory quality and safety standardsClinical Responsibilities
- Perform blood bank testing including:
- ABO/Rh typing
- Antibody screening and identification
- AHG and electronic crossmatching
- Direct and indirect Coombs testing
- Antigen typing
- Rhogam screening
- Cord blood evaluation
- Cold agglutinin testing
- Transfusion reaction investigations
- Process high-volume type and screen and crossmatch specimens (30–50 samples daily).
- Accurately accession, process, and handle laboratory specimens.
- Maintain proper specimen identification, labeling, storage, and transportation.
- Prepare, thaw, and manage blood products according to established protocols.
- Report laboratory results accurately and promptly.
- Follow quality assurance, infection prevention, hazardous material handling, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Operate laboratory information systems and blood bank software efficiently.
- Work independently during night shifts while supporting transfusion services in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Clinical Laboratory Scientist experience (required).
- Recent and current Blood Bank experience within the last 2 years (required).
- Previous travel assignment experience as a Blood Bank CLS (required).
- Experience working in a large acute care hospital with 300 beds (required).
- Experience in Level I and Level II Trauma Centers (required).
- Experience using Epic Beaker (required).
- Experience with blood bank software (required).
Any Specific Mandate skill required
- Blood banking procedures

Pay: $2,400.00 - $2,600.00 per week
