Role Summary
The Data Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and overseeing the end-to-end data architecture required to successfully migrate participant, plan, transactional, compliance, and historical recordkeeping data from the FIS Relias platform to the FIS FRP platform.
This role ensures that data integrity, regulatory compliance, reconciliation accuracy, retention requirements, and downstream integrations are maintained throughout the migration lifecycle.
The Data Architect serves as the primary authority for:
- Data mapping
- Canonical data structures
- Conversion strategy
- Data governance
- Reconciliation architecture
- Historical data retention

Primary Responsibilities
Migration Data Strategy
- Define enterprise migration data strategy for Relias-to-FRP conversion
- Establish authoritative data sources and systems of record
- Determine active vs archived data migration scope
- Define historical retention approach
- Create phased migration and cutover data strategies
Data Modeling & Mapping
- Develop logical and physical migration data models
- Define source-to-target data mappings
- Resolve data transformation requirements
- Normalize participant, employer, payroll, loan, and investment data
- Define metadata and lineage standards
Data Governance
- Establish migration data governance controls
- Define data quality rules and validation thresholds
- Ensure ERISA, SEC, IRS, SOC1/SOC2, and audit support requirements are met
- Define retention and archival standards
- Coordinate legal/compliance retention obligations
Reconciliation & Validation
- Design reconciliation frameworks for:
- Participant balances
- Payroll contributions
- Loan balances
- Vesting
- Investment elections
- Historical transactions
- Define balancing and exception management processes
- Establish conversion certification criteria
Integration Architecture
- Coordinate with:
- Payroll systems
- Custodians
- CRM platforms
- Data warehouses/lakehouses
- Compliance systems
- Reporting environments
- Define migration interface dependencies
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify migration data risks
- Resolve source data inconsistencies
- Manage duplicate, orphaned, or incomplete records
- Support mock conversions and dress rehearsals
