SCOPE & PURPOSE
The VP of Human Resources is a member of the executive leadership team under the direct supervision of the President and CFO. The VP of HR sets company-wide HR strategy, leads organizational development and training, oversees compensation strategy, and partners with executive leadership to align people operations with long-term business objectives and is responsible for culture, workforce planning, and HR budget.
Duties & responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Provides strategic counsel and coaching to senior leaders with focus on leadership, change management, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, recruiting and retaining top talent, developing people and organizational effectiveness.
- Serves as a catalyst for honest/critical conversations and culture change. Stewards the company culture by recognizing, articulating, and shaping the need for change. Manages the people implications of change and provides expertise in the identification, development, and implementation of best practices and process improvements.
- Manages all aspects of the human resources functions of the company, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations relating to human capital management and employment.
- Drives integrated talent acquisition, management and development, compensation, and performance and succession management strategies. Aligns organizational capabilities and human resources policy and practices with strategic plan goals and objectives.
- Leads the design and administration of competitive rewards program including comprehensive compensation and benefit plans aimed at the health, wealth, and wellness of the workforce; ensures these programs serve to recruit and retain employees at all levels.
- Leads company-wide training and development initiatives to include orientation and ongoing professional development.
- Make recommendations for optimizing human capital management software to include leading implementation when necessary.
- Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
- Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
- Attends all required hearings for unemployment, workers compensation, or other legal proceedings.
- Responds to all unemployment claims through the state online systems by their stated deadline.
- Processes 401k loans and hardship withdrawals with the support of benefits and payroll professionals.
- Consults legal counsel when complicated legal matters need to be considered.
- Handles all employee complaints and responds to them in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Preserves historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
- Upholds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Completes human resource operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Travel to other properties on an ad-hoc basis.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation throughout the DMV area for site visits, meetings, or required off site training.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree required; Masters’ preferred.
2. Seven or more years of HR experience required
3. Current or previous experience in an HR Director of VP role in a mid-size (400 employees; multi-state locations) organization.
4. PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
5. Must have reliable transportation.
6. Multilingual (able to read, write, and speak) English and Spanish a plus.

Required- 5 - 30 years: Have you had over 5 years of Employee Relations experience?
Education
Required- Bachelors or better in Human Resource Administration or related field
