As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play an important role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. You’ll help promote health, safety, and well-being while respecting each person’s choices, dignity, and self-determination.
What You’ll Do
You’ll support individuals with daily living activities, personal care, and community involvement. Every day will look a little different, but your main responsibilities include:

Health & Wellness:

Help with medication administration and attending medical appointments.

Support special dietary needs and follow posted menus.

Report any unusual incidents and complete documentation accurately and on time.

Safety & Home Care:

Keep the home clean, organized, and safe for everyone.

Follow fire safety and severe weather procedures.
-
Safely transport residents to community activities and appointments.

Personal Support:

Assist with communication, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Encourage independence, choice, and self-determination.

Serve as a positive role model and advocate for residents’ rights.

Documentation & Compliance:

Follow each resident’s Individual Service Plan (ISP).

Accurately document services, progress, and any incidents.

Manage receipts and records for resident purchases.

Teamwork & Professionalism:

Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, families, coworkers, and supervisors.

Attend trainings and meetings as required.
