The Division of Adult and Continuing Education at LaGuardia Community College invites applications for the position of Workforce Data Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Workforce Pell Implementation Initiatives and working closely with the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the selected candidate will support the development and management of data systems used to track student enrollment and outcomes for adult and continuing education (ACE) workforce training programs, including programs aligned with Workforce Pell reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain datasets related to student enrollment, completion, credential attainment, and workforce outcomes
Support the development of data infrastructures and reporting related to Workforce Pell requirements
Develop data visualizations, presentations, and reports tracking key performance indicators and Workforce Pell outcomes
Analyze trends in enrollment and outcomes and provide decision-support to leadership
Support the integration of Xenegrade data with institutional reporting systems
Collaborate with Institutional Research and Effectiveness to support workforce program reporting
Ensure data accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements
Support the Workforce Pell project team through regular collaboration, ideation, and completion of reports for grant funding and institutional leadership
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, education research, public policy, or related field
Minimum 4–5 years of experience working with education data or institutional research
Strong experience with Excel and data analysis tools
Preferred Qualifications
Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate complex information to multiple audiences
Experience with workforce development or non‑credit program data
Experience developing dashboards or data reporting systems
Advanced experience with Tableau a plus
Experience with Xenegrade and PeopleSoft a plus
Knowledge of data warehousing and data collection/cleaning a plus
About LaGuardia Community College
Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.
Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. LaGuardia ranked fifth among U.S. community colleges in economic mobility – moving low-income students into the middle class and beyond – in studies by Stanford University (2017) and the Brookings Institution (2020).
