This is an on-site position located at SUNY Plattsburgh. As an employee of The Research Foundation for SUNY, this leadership position plays a vital role in advancing student success through a combination of direct student support, data-informed decision making, program assessment, and federal grant compliance.

TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded program dedicated to increasing the retention, academic success, and graduation of first-generation college students, students from modest-income backgrounds, and students with disabilities. Working collaboratively with the Director and professional staff, the Assistant Director helps ensure high-quality services while using data and assessment to continuously improve student outcomes and program effectiveness.

We believe data should tell the story of student success—not simply measure it. The Assistant Director will use assessment, research, and student feedback to continually improve services that help students thrive.

Primary Responsibilities

· Provide academic advising, case management, needs assessments, and ongoing support for an assigned caseload of students.

· Assist with student recruitment, applications, eligibility determination, intake appointments, and records management.

· Co-instruct the TRIO Student Success Seminar (INT390) and support programming related to academic success, financial literacy, career readiness, and student development.

· Lead data collection, assessment, program evaluation, budget reporting, and preparation of required federal reports, including the Annual Performance Report (APR).

· Develop and implement continuous quality improvement processes that integrate student outcomes, assessment results, participant feedback, and program evaluation to strengthen services and support evidence-based decision making.

· Coordinate semester assessment activities, including Student Satisfaction Surveys and Progress-to-Degree reviews, utilizing assessment findings and current research to improve advising, programming, and service delivery.

· Supervise designated professional, graduate, and student staff by providing onboarding, training, quality assurance, and ongoing professional guidance.

· Assist with planning and implementation of orientations, workshops, student engagement activities, and other educational programming aligned with grant objectives.

· Collaborate with campus partners to strengthen student support services, improve operational effectiveness, and enhance student success.

· Serve as the secondary administrator for the program and assume leadership responsibilities in the Director's absence.

Required Qualifications

· Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Student Affairs, Data Analytics, STEM, or a closely related field.

· Experience in student advising, case management, student support services, data collection, analysis, reporting, and program assessment to support student success initiatives.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively within a student-centered environment.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience working with first-generation college students, students from modest-income backgrounds, and students with disabilities.
