Job Title: Research Scientist II (Non-Competitive)Grade: 22Salary: $80,698-$97,344The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Research Scientist II position. Candidate will fill a full-time position of Research Scientist to conduct research proposed in awarded career development award (K Award). RFMH will provide the training opportunities necessary to successfully complete the following proposed aims of the project: The proposed study seeks to reduce HIV disparities among young adult Black and Hispanic/Latino men who have sex with men (YBLMSM) by improving uptake of and adherence to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The project will develop, refine, and pilot test a tailored, web-based PrEP decision aid (PDA) designed to support shared decision-making between YBLMSM and their healthcare providers. Duties and Responsibilities:Using mixed methods approach across three aims, the study will: conduct in-depth interviews with YBLMSM and providers to inform tool development, iteratively refine the PDA prototype, and evaluate its feasibility, acceptability, and appropriateness in a pilot trial.
Findings will lay the groundwork for a future R-series grant examining the PDA's effectiveness at scale.
The project also includes a structured mentorship and training plan to support the principal investigator's growth as an independent researcher in HIV prevention and minority men's health. Throughout the award period, the incumbent will work towards reporting findings from this and related studies in conference presentations and peer-reviewed articles.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree and (3) years of professional research experience in an appropriate field or masters degree in an appropriate field may substitute for (1) year of experience, and Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
