Statement of Duties
We are looking for a hardworking experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. Must be able to take initiative, make appropriate decisions and solve problems. As a Medical Biller you will be responsible for maintaining compliance with proper billing and coding practices according to federal and commercial payer standards. Experience with Medicare LCD's and other Insurance Companies Policies.
Experience with NYS No-Fault and NYS WC billing is HIGHLY Preferred
This is NOT a remote position
Job duties
Review patient’s progress note to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to performing charge entry transaction
Process Laboratory Billing by entering charges correctly into the EMR
Take the necessary action to correct the encounter by contacting the provider of service
Run monthly on hold and open superbill reports
Educate providers on proper billing practices
Correct and resubmit denied claims
Run monthly report for all unapplied payments and apply all payments
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Certification in medical billing from an accredited organization with at least 2 years of medical billing experience preferred
- Experience in Coding preferred
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes and modifiers
- Knowledge of insurance products, both commercial and federal
- Must be able to navigate through Medent EMR system
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Effective communication skills
- Capable of working independently, as well as collaborate with a group
- Ability to multitask and problem solve
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Healthenet, and Healthelink
- Familiarity with HIPAA laws
- Perform other duties as assigned
