Billing and Coding Specialist
Company Description: Family Care Physicians, P.C. is a Primary Care Medical Practice located in Williamsville, NY with five physicians and seven mid-level providers. We have a staff of 38 employees and a billing department on site with a staff of 4. We are looking to add an additional Billing and Coding Specialist to our team. We pride ourselves in our employee retention, so this is a rare position opening.
Summary: Our Billing and Coding Specialist coordinates all patient and insurance billings for the medical facility in a busy primary care office setting which provides high-quality of evidence-based health care for the patients of our practice.
Duties will include: Enters daily charges and adds modifiers as necessary. Bills claims to insurance companies. Posts payments from insurance companies and patients. Manages denied claims and completes provider inquiries. Manages monthly aging reports. Creates patient statements. Handles all aspects of Accounts Receivable and maintains appropriate record keeping. Routinely reviews provider coding, provides training, education and resource to providers regarding billing and coding. Responds to all patient billing inquiries.
Qualifications: High school degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Medical Coding Certification (CPC or CPC-A) preferred. Medent experience highly preferred but not required. Strong computer skills needed. Two years of Primary Care Medical Billing experience preferred but not required. Ability to work both independently and as an active member of a team. Must have attention to detail and accuracy skills, ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate with physicians, clinical and management, and front office staff to support and abide by company objectives and expectations.
