Job Summary:
As a Senior Cost Control Management, you will be responsible for building out a cost control function. This includes designing and implementing processes, deploying cost control software, integrating with SAP and accounting, training teams, and establishing a scalable governance model across the renewable energy project portfolio.
This is a hands-on role, not a maintenance role. You will architect systems, shape culture, and ensure financial transparency and predictability across all projects.
The position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Key Responsibilities:
Build the Cost Control Function & Governance:
- Design and deploy standardized cost control processes across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Define cost breakdown structures (CBS) aligned with WBS, contracts, procurement, and SAP.
- Establish governance routines: budget approval, forecasting cycles, EAC reviews, variance analyses, accrual processes, and change control workflows.
- Create cost management playbooks, templates, SOPs, and training materials.
- Lead evaluation, selection, and deployment of an enterprise cost control solution (EcoSys, Primavera Cost, SAP PS, or equivalent).
- Integrate cost systems with SAP, procurement, contract management, and accounting.
- Build automated reporting dashboards and portfolio-level cost analytics.
- Define and own the integration between project cost data and SAP financials.
- Align WBS, cost centers, GL accounts, commitments, and accrual processes.
- Ensure consistent, reconciled data between project controls and corporate finance.
- Establish month-end closing routines and cost accounting alignment.
- Train project managers, construction managers, engineers, and new cost controllers on cost management concepts, tools, and standards.
- Build a repeatable onboarding and certification track for new hires.
- Raise the competency level across the organization with ongoing coaching.
- Build enterprise cost dashboards with forecasting, burn rate, cashflow, trend analysis, and productivity metrics.
- Provide meaningful insights—not just reports—to senior leadership.
- Identify systemic risks, cost drivers, and opportunities for improvement across the portfolio.
- Lead cost components of budget development during early estimating and pre‑construction.
- Analyze cost impacts of schedule shifts, change orders, variations, and field conditions.
- Monitor commitments, accruals, invoices, and actuals with commercial and finance teams.
- Ensure projects maintain accurate EAC forecasts and contingency drawdown.
- 10 years in project cost control, cost engineering, or project controls.
- Proven experience building cost control systems, processes, and teams.
- Advanced expertise with SAP (WBS, cost centers, commitments, GL, accruals).
- Experience with large EPC, construction, infrastructure, or energy projects.
- Strong financial analytics, forecasting, and variance analysis capabilities.
- Prior experience implementing cost control software (EcoSys, Oracle, Primavera, SAP PS).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Business Degree or Accounting.
- Experience in renewable energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
