Position Overview
The Service Writer/Manager is the friendly, dependable front line of our shop, the person customers trust to guide them through vehicle repairs with clarity and confidence. You’ll serve as the bridge between our customers and technicians, ensuring repairs are properly understood, approved, completed on time, and done right the first visit. This role requires strong communication, sound judgment, and a sincere commitment to customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet every customer promptly and courteously, in person and by phone
- Listen carefully to customer concerns and ask the right questions
- Schedule service appointments and manage repair workflow efficiently
- Prepare clear, accurate estimates based on inspections and maintenance schedules
- Explain repair needs and preventative maintenance in plain, honest language
- Recommend services with integrity, never pressure, always educate
- Obtain customer approval before proceeding with repairs
- Coordinate parts ordering and repair timelines with technicians
- Maintain accurate records using shop management software
- Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and build long-term relationships
- Collect payments and process transactions accurately
- Uphold shop standards for professionalism, cleanliness, and teamwork
What We’re Looking For
- 3-5 years of automotive service writing /manager or related experience
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance practices
- Proven customer service and sales skills grounded in honesty and trust
- Clear, confident communication skills, written and verbal
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable using computers and shop software
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- High school diploma or GED
