Job Description
The Controller will lead the accounting department and be responsible for financial policies, procedures,
and compliance in the organization. They will actively work to maximize return on financial assets,
maintain strong cash flow management, and minimize risk. The Controller will be responsible to produce
accurate and timely financial reporting and assist the leadership team with important financial decisions.
We are a rapidly growing company in a fast-paced environment, and are looking for someone with
strong analytical, communication, organizational, and management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting ledgers; oversee all AR/AP activity
- Prepare financial statements; lead month-end closing process
- Manage sales tax filings
- Process payroll & commissions
- Manage payroll filings & reporting
- Onboard new employees
- Reconcile intercompany accounts
- Create, implement, and document accounting policies and procedures as needed to improve cash management, compliance, and efficiency
- Assist with annual budget process
- Analyze and report significant cost variances and savings opportunities
- Present financials to management team
- Manage accounting team
- Work with HR on business insurance renewals
- Work with outside tax team for tax filings & payments
- Ad hoc reporting as needed
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
- 5 years accounting experience, including experience leading a team or as controller
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Good interpersonal skills in communicating with all levels of the team as well as outside clients and vendors
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP – public accounting experience a plus
- Working knowledge of franchisor/franchisee relationship and royalty accounting a plus
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
