What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Diamonds Direct?
We are looking for a Controller to oversee the Diamonds Direct accounting operations, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and ensure the accuracy of financial results. Reporting directly to the Signet Vice President, Controller, the Diamonds Direct Controller also plays a strategic role in financial planning, compliance, and decision-making, partnering with the Director of FP&A and other operational leaders. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who can lead a team and bring strong technical expertise, operational efficiency, and business insight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all accounting operations including Credit Card/Financing A/R, A/P, GL, Inventory Accounting, Treasury Management, and Revenue Recognition
- Manage and supervise accounting staff; mentor and develop team members to ensure departmental growth and performance
- Ensure timely and accurate period, quarterly, and annual financial closings
- Responsible for all payroll-related GL activity
- Manage all Intacct/GL related updates/changes and custom reporting needs
- Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Develop internal control policies, procedures, and compliance protocols
- Coordinate and manage annual audits and liaise with external auditors and Signet’s Internal Audit team
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and forecasts
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
- Oversee Sales Tax compliance with applicable states
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and tools
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar Finance field
- 7 years of practical accounting experience in a corporate setting
- Proficient use of Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
- Previous retail or jewelry industry experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a time environment
- Local to Charlotte area and available to be in the office on a hybrid schedule
