Reports To: Outbound Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation Base Range: $22 - $28.85 hourly

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Outbound Lead serves as an on-the-floor leader responsible for supporting and guiding outbound team members to ensure the efficient and accurate picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders, including Amazon Prime shipments. Reporting to the Outbound Supervisor, this role focuses on driving day-to-day productivity, ensuring proper workflow execution, and escalating operational concerns before they become end-of-day (EOD) issues. The Lead acts as an extension of the Supervisor, taking primary responsibility for outbound operations, especially on Saturdays when the Supervisor is not present.

This is a full-time position scheduled Tuesday through Saturday to provide essential leadership coverage throughout the week and strengthen weekend operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Daily Operational Tasks

  • Oversee and support the outbound team in executing picking, packing, staging, and shipping tasks.
  • Ensure work assignments from the Supervisor are clearly understood and executed by the team.
  • Monitor progress of all outbound orders, including time-sensitive Amazon Prime shipments.
  • Coordinate with the Supervisor and shipping carriers to ensure pickup schedules are met.
  • Ensure accuracy in outbound documentation, including packing lists and shipping labels.
  • Perform quality control checks on outbound shipments to confirm accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete daily End-of-Day (EOD) outbound checklist.
  • Support the accuracy of transactions in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).

Team Leadership

  • Train and coach staff on outbound processes, Amazon Prime protocols, and safety procedures.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate goals and priorities for outbound staff.
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback or escalate issues as needed.
  • Resolve conflicts or issues among team members promptly with the help of the outbound supervisor.
  • Provide ongoing guidance to ensure accurate inventory handling during outbound activities.
  • Collaborate with inventory control and customer service teams to ensure order accuracy and data integrity.

Process ImprovementReporting

  • Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
  • Track key KPIs such as order accuracy, shipping time, Amazon Prime fulfillment rates, and productivity.
  • Generate shift reports or daily outbound logs.
  • Participate in audits or compliance checks.
  • Identify process gaps and help implement improvements to streamline outbound workflows.

SafetyCompliance

  • Ensure outbound operations follow OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Enforce proper personal protective equipment usage and safe equipment operation.
  • Complete daily safety walk.
  • Report incidents or near-misses immediately.
  • Promote cleanliness and organization in the outbound area.

InventoryEquipment Management

  • Ensure accurate inventory movement during outbound processing.
  • Coordinate with inventory control on stock discrepancies.
  • Report damaged or missing items during picking or packing
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment (scanners, pallet jacks, forklifts).
  • Support bin replenishment processes and maintain efficient bin configurations


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assigns, trains, schedules, or oversees work of others.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, word, and Teams) - preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite - preferred


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or zero to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years related experience.

SafetyCompliance Awareness - Promotes a safe working environment by enforcing company and OSHA safety standards. Identifies and addresses safety risks promptly and participates in regular safety checks.

TechnicalSystems Proficiency - Utilizes WMS, Microsoft Office Suite, and (preferably) NetSuite to manage daily tasks, track KPIs, and complete reporting duties. Leverages technology to drive accuracy and productivity in operations.
