What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-House Counsel position at Rental Property Management?
We are seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to provide practical legal guidance and support across our commercial rental operations. This role will focus on contract drafting and negotiation, lease matters, risk management, compliance, dispute oversight, and general legal advice to leadership and internal teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and negotiate commercial leases, lease amendments, customer agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, and service agreements. Advise the company on legal risks related to leasing, property operations, customer defaults, collections, and contract disputes. Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws affecting commercial rental operations. Manage or coordinate disputes, claims, demand letters, and litigation with outside counsel when needed . Review policies and procedures to help reduce legal exposure and improve business practices. Support corporate governance, entity maintenance, and internal approvals as needed. Partner with operations, sales, finance, and leadership to provide timely legal advice in a business-friendly way. Maintain contract templates, clause libraries, and legal process improvements to increase efficiency. QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.4-8 years of legal experience, preferably including commercial contracts, real estate, leasing, corporate, or in-house work. Strong drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment skills.Ability to translate legal issues into practical business advice.Experience working independently and managing multiple matters at once.Prior real estate, commercial leasing, landlord-tenant, or property operations experience is strongly preferred.
