Position Overview
Renowned Recruitment Group is partnering with a premier construction company seeking a full time Controller. This person will oversee all accounting operations for a growing construction organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, rigorous job costing, and strong internal controls. This role requires deep experience in construction accounting, including WIP reporting, cost analysis, and project-level financial oversight.
This position is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting skills, a firm understanding of GAAP, and the ability to support both day-to-day operations and strategic financial decisions. A CPA is strongly preferred.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, and financial reporting.
- Ensure that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
- Analyze profit and loss for various business units – Interior Design, Architecture, Construction and Cabinets.
- Develop and coordinate all relationships with lending/financial institutions.
- Assist management in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
- Coordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Manage relationships with insurance providers and ensure compliance.
- Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
- Forecast and manage cash flow.
Required Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Experience in a construction or manufacturing business with activity-based project costing
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and me.
- Computer literate with construction industry specific software
- Must be familiar with the Construction Industry and have experience with project cost reporting, WIP - work in progress reporting, and equipment cost reporting
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
- CPA preferred
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or relevant industry
Salary : $150,000 - $165,000
