Position Overview
Renowned Recruitment Group is partnering with a large premier construction company seeking a full time Controller. This person will oversee all accounting operations for a growing construction organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, rigorous job costing, and strong internal controls. This role requires deep experience in construction accounting, including WIP reporting, cost analysis, and project-level financial oversight.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of accounting operations including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
- Ensure financial records and reporting are maintained in compliance with GAAP standards and internal accounting policies.
- Analyze financial performance, profitability trends, operating costs, and budget variances while providing regular and ad hoc reporting to executive leadership.
- Partner with senior management on financial planning initiatives, operational analysis, and strategic decision-making by identifying key revenue and cost drivers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with banking and financial institution partners, supporting financing activities and ongoing financial operations.
- Coordinate and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Oversee insurance relationships and ensure organizational compliance with applicable policies and coverage requirements.
- Manage tax planning and compliance across federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable tax requirements.
- Forecast, monitor, and manage organizational cash flow to support operational needs and long-term financial objectives.
Required Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Experience in a construction or manufacturing business with activity-based project costing
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and me.
- Computer literate with construction industry specific software
- Must be familiar with the Construction Industry and have experience with project cost reporting, WIP - work in progress reporting, and equipment cost reporting
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
- CPA preferred
- 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or relevant industry
- Experience managing a team of up to 4 people
