The Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) provides therapeutic support and recovery-focused services to adults with substance use and co-occurring disorders in a facility-based setting. This role collaborates with clinical staff to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and faith-sensitive care. The CDCA supports client recovery through assessments, counseling assistance, documentation, case management, and coordination of services while maintaining compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and CARF standards.
- Assist with client assessments, intake, and individualized treatment planning.
- Provide one-on-one counseling support under clinical supervision.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, documentation reviews, and care coordination.
- Support crisis intervention, case management, and aftercare referrals.
- Document all interactions, progress notes, and treatment updates in Sunwave EHR.
- Maintain client confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Participate in performance improvement and CARF-aligned quality assurance processes.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all clients and staff.
- Excellent knowledge of case management principles and reimbursement.

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years relevant mental health or substance use treatment experience (required).
- Licensure/Certification: Active Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certification (required).
- Additional Training: CPR/First Aid and Narcan administration required within 30 days of hire.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Sunwave EHR.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Regular stair use required.
- Potential exposure to emotionally charged situations and biohazard materials.
- PPE provided and required in accordance with OSHA standards.
- The work environment is representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.
- 80% or more travel within Mahoning County is expected
Pay: $21.00 - $23.50 per hour
