What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strategic Business Development Manager position at rEnergySolutions/Reece Electrical Services?
Strategic Business Development Manager – EV, Electrical Infrastructure & Commercial Projects
Company: rEnergySolutions / Reece Electrical Services
Location: Georgia-based preferred, with travel across current operating states as needed
Position Overview
rEnergySolutions / Reece Electrical Services is looking for a Strategic Business Development Manager who can create real revenue growth, not just talk about relationships.
We are a growing commercial electrical and energy solutions company focused on EV charging, electrical infrastructure, lighting, generators, and related project work. Our projects typically range from $50,000 to $500,000, and we work across Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Colorado, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
Our strongest customer base today includes automotive dealerships, and we are looking to expand both within that market and into additional commercial and investor-driven opportunities. We want someone who already brings meaningful industry relationships, knows how to open doors, and can turn those relationships into signed contract revenue.
This role is built for a person who is motivated by performance and confident enough to bet on their own ability to produce.
What This Role Is Responsible For
The Strategic Business Development Manager is responsible for generating qualified opportunities, building strategic relationships, expanding existing accounts, and securing profitable project work.
This role is expected to produce:
- new customer relationships
- new strategic partner relationships
- expansion of existing accounts
- qualified pipeline growth
- $1,000,000 in signed contract revenue within the first 12 months
The primary focus is EV charging projects that include electrical infrastructure, with additional growth opportunities in:
- dealership equipment installation
- generators
- site lighting
- interior lighting
- other commercial electrical project scopes aligned with company capabilities
Key Responsibilities
Drive new business
- Identify, pursue, and develop qualified project opportunities that fit the company’s services, operating footprint, and revenue goals.
- Use existing relationships, direct outreach, referrals, and networking to open doors with decision-makers and create real sales opportunities.
- Build business with owners, dealership groups, investor groups, utility-related contacts, and other commercial stakeholders who can lead to repeat and scalable project work.
- Focus on opportunities that align with the company’s value-driven approach, not commodity-style low-margin work.
Grow existing accounts
- Expand current customer relationships by identifying additional project needs, facility upgrades, and adjacent scopes of work.
- Increase share of wallet within existing accounts, especially automotive dealerships and other multi-site commercial customers.
- Cross-sell EV charging, electrical infrastructure, lighting, generators, and related services where there is a strong business case.
Lead front-end sales for EV and infrastructure opportunities
- Represent the company effectively in early-stage conversations around EV charging and supporting electrical infrastructure.
- Speak with enough technical and commercial credibility to answer first-round customer questions and move the opportunity forward.
- Bring in internal engineering and technical resources when deeper project detail is required.
- Help position the company as a strong turnkey partner rather than just another electrical contractor bidding on price.
Use utility and program knowledge as a customer value driver
- Understand and use utility-related programs and incentive opportunities that help reduce customer cost and improve project feasibility.
- In Georgia, help identify qualifying EV charging opportunities where the Georgia Power Make Ready program can help offset eligible infrastructure costs and strengthen the customer’s business case.
- Be able to speak at an initial level about how utility-related programs can support EV project development and add value in the sales process.
Build strategic partner channels
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with utility program contacts, EV industry participants, dealership leadership, owners, investor groups, and other strategic influencers.
- Create referral and channel relationships that can produce long-term, repeatable opportunities.
- Help leadership identify which relationship channels and market segments are most worth pursuing based on actual access and opportunity quality.
Qualify work and protect margin
- Evaluate opportunities based on scope, timing, decision-maker access, contract potential, margin potential, and fit with company capabilities.
- Prioritize work that supports the company’s signed contract revenue goals and targeted gross margin expectations.
- Avoid wasting company resources on poorly qualified or purely price-driven opportunities that do not fit the company’s strategy.
- Gather clear front-end information needed for accurate estimating, proposal development, and internal planning.
Work cross-functionally to win business
- Partner with ownership, estimating, engineering, and office support staff to move opportunities from prospect to proposal to contract.
- Support proposal strategy and customer communication throughout the sales process.
- Ensure awarded work is handed off cleanly and accurately to the execution team.
Stay involved after award at the right level
- Own the relationship through contract award.
- Transition day-to-day execution to the internal project team after award.
- Stay involved at a high level to support customer confidence, protect account continuity, and identify follow-on work.
Maintain pipeline discipline
- Keep an active pipeline of qualified opportunities across the company’s current operating states.
- Track business development activity, opportunity stage, revenue forecast, and relationship development through company reporting processes.
- Maintain disciplined follow-up and consistent communication to keep opportunities moving.
What Success Looks Like
A successful person in this role will:
- build meaningful new customer and strategic partner relationships
- create a strong pipeline of qualified commercial opportunities
- expand business within existing accounts
- secure $1,000,000 in signed contract revenue in the first 12 months
- pursue work that supports the company’s target 30–35% gross margin range
- help the company grow with customers who value execution, responsiveness, and turnkey capability
What We Are Looking For
We are not looking for someone who simply says they are a “people person.” We are looking for someone who can:
- turn relationships into revenue
- open doors in target markets
- speak credibly about project-based solutions
- qualify opportunities intelligently
- work with urgency and follow-through
- thrive in a smaller company where performance matters
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, strategic sales, or account growth in a project-based commercial environment
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business and signed contract revenue
- Ability to build trust quickly with decision-makers and strategic partners
- Strong communication and follow-up discipline
- Ability to travel within current operating states as needed
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Background
Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience and established relationships in one or more of the following:
- utility-related energy programs or power provider networks
- EV charging or EV infrastructure
- commercial electrical infrastructure
- automotive dealership groups or dealership facility projects
- investor-led or multi-site commercial projects
Candidates with direct experience working for, with, or around utility power providers or within the EV charging market are especially attractive for this role. Familiarity with programs such as the Georgia Power Make Ready program is a plus, particularly for candidates who will help drive EV-related opportunities in Georgia.
Reporting Structure
This role reports directly to company ownership and works closely with leadership, estimating, engineering, and office support teams.
Compensation
Compensation will be structured to reward performance and is expected to include a base salary plus an aggressive commission or incentive component tied to revenue production. We are open to strong performers who want a compensation structure that reflects confidence in their ability to produce results.
Why This Role Is Different
This is an opportunity to help shape growth in a company that already has proven capabilities, active customers, multi-state reach, and strong technical support behind the scenes.
You will not be expected to do everything alone. You will have support from ownership, estimating, proposals, office staff, and engineering. What you will be expected to do is create opportunities, build the right relationships, and close work.
Application Instructions
Please submit your resume along with a brief summary of:
- the industries and customer types where you already have established relationships
- the types of projects or services you have sold
- examples of signed contract revenue or business growth you have directly generated
This role is best suited for someone who is hungry, connected, commercially sharp, and ready to be measured by results.
