Duties

• Perform clothing and bridal alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, resizing, bustles, and garment repairs with precision and care
• Sew and construct garments using a variety of sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to ensure durability and a polished finish
• Operate pressing equipment to achieve crisp, professional presentation on finished pieces
• Conduct client fittings and provide expert advice on fit adjustments, fabric considerations, and alteration options
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace, including proper handling and storage of fabrics, garments, and sewing tools
• Collaborate with the studio team to ensure alterations and custom work are completed accurately and on schedule for client pickups
• Conduct quality checks on finished garments to confirm they meet specifications and client expectations

Experience

• Proven experience in clothing alterations or tailoring, with a strong background in garment sewing and construction
• Skilled in operating sewing machines, sergers, and pressing equipment for professional finishes
• Knowledge of fabrics, stitching techniques, hand sewing, and garment fitting adjustments
• Bridal or formalwear alterations experience is a strong plus; familiarity with men’s and women’s wear tailoring and custom work is valued
• Ability to perform accurate measurements and basic calculations for fit adjustments
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly about alteration options and timelines
• Prior experience working with a range of fabrics such as cotton, wool, silk, satin, chiffon, polyester, and blends is preferred
