A highly respected and rapidly growing organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join its finance leadership team. About the Role
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in overseeing financial reporting, managing the monthly close process, strengthening internal controls, supporting audits, and developing a high-performing accounting team. This individual will also help drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and special projects across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages
- Analyze financial results and ensure accurate accounting treatment
- Support external audits, tax compliance, and internal control initiatives
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, including management-level team members (up to 10)
- Drive process improvements, automation efforts, and system enhancements
- Partner with business leaders to improve visibility into financial performance
- Assist with acquisitions, integrations, and strategic projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree and/or CPA preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting leadership experience
- Prior experience leading/coaching/mentoring staff
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience managing accounting teams and developing staff
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial systems aptitude
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
