RemX is hiring a Payroll Specialist for a respected Knoxville-area employer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
Location: Knoxville, TN 100% onsite
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $26.00 per Hour
Hours: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Type: Temp-to-Hire
As a Payroll Specialist, you'll play a critical role in supporting payroll operations for a large employee population across multiple states.
Responsibilities include:
- Process payroll from start to finish while ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Review payroll data, earnings, deductions, and employee records for completeness
- Research and resolve payroll questions from employees and management
- Assist with payroll audits and identify opportunities to improve processes
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Prepare payroll-related reports for leadership and accounting teams
- Handle wage garnishments and other payroll adjustments
- Coordinate special payments, bonuses, and off-cycle payroll activities as needed
- Partner with internal teams to ensure payroll information is accurate and up to date
Requirements:
- 5 years of payroll experience
- Recent experience processing high-volume, multi-state payroll
- Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with ADP and payroll systems; WinTeam experience is a plus
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional business or accounting education is a plus
