Job Title: Multilingual Project Specialist

Department: Family Engagement

Reports To: Director of Family Engagement

Compensation Range: $56,000

Summary:

 

Our Multilingual Project Specialist will play a major role in the success of Multilingual Students and Families at Epic, thus candidates should have exceptional skills in cross-cultural and interpersonal relationships skills and a desire to build strong connections between Epic, teachers, parents, students, and the Oklahoma community. Successful candidates should also have the following experiences and characteristics:

Specific Duties for Multilingual Project Specialist:

 

  • Plan, host, and lead virtual EL courses for Multilingual Parents using the Off2 Class Curriculum if called upon.
  • Mentor and build relationships with multilingual parents to assist in learning the US educational system and how to navigate being an Epic parent.
  • Assist with and help maintain Hispanic community partnerships throughout the State.
  • Provide assistance to teachers and students of newcomer Spanish-speaking students.
  • Serve Epic teachers and principals by creating learning environments and plans for the specific cultural language needs of students or groups of students entering Epic.
  • Assist the team in planning and hosting events for multilingual families.
  • Connect multilingual students and families to all available Epic resources interdepartmentally. 
  • Assist CCAs with multilingual students' future-ready plans.
  • Work with College and Career Transition Specialists to provide services for upcoming and recent Epic graduates for the first year.
  • Work with the College and Career Department to make ICAP and other program offerings more accessible for multilingual students.
  • Work with the College and Career Department to help immigrant students with all future-ready activities.
  • Assist with translation when called upon.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:              

  • 2 years of experience working cross-culturally.
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Resolve issues and conflicts.
  • Passionate commitment to community development through family engagement.
  • Ability to maintain professional confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines.

Language Skills:                  

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from families or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers, both in person and in writing. 

Mathematical Skills:                   

  • Basic math skills required.

Reasoning Ability:               

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills:                  

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Tools.
  • Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current driver's license and valid car insurance.
  • Valid teaching certification is preferred.

Other Qualifications:                  

  • Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made.
  • Must have favorable employment references, including recommendations from their EPIC instructional team.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

This position works remotely from home. Travel to various Epic sites across the state will be required. The noise level is quiet to moderately loud (when students are present.)
