Overview
The Banquet Houseman/Server is responsible for supporting all aspects of banquet operations, including event setup, service, and breakdown. This dual-role position ensures that every event is executed to Marriott brand standards by maintaining a professional appearance, providing exceptional guest service, and ensuring event spaces are properly maintained and presented.
This position plays a key role in delivering a memorable event experience that enhances guest satisfaction and contributes to the hotel’s overall GSS performance.
Banquet Setup / Houseman Responsibilities:
- Set up banquet function rooms according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and Marriott standards, including tables, chairs, linens, skirting, staging, and décor.
- Ensure all setups are completed accurately and on time prior to guest arrival.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet storage areas, staging areas, and equipment rooms.
- Handle furniture, audio/visual equipment, and service items with care to avoid damage.
- Refresh meeting rooms and banquet areas during events as needed.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly to the Banquet Manager or Engineering.
Banquet Service Responsibilities:
- Provide prompt, courteous, and professional food and beverage service to all guests.
- Assist with buffet setups, plated meals, and beverage service in accordance with event details.
- Communicate effectively with Banquet Captains, Culinary, and Bar teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to requests or concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the event.
- Assist with event breakdown, clearing tables, and returning equipment to proper storage.
Qualifications
- Previous banquet, catering, or food & beverage experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires.
