Remi Vista's Supported Living Services program is looking for a part-time Personal Attendant who will provide direct support services for adults with developmental disabilities. The SLS PA will assist at the individual's respected house or apartment as well as accessing the community. The SLS PA will also assist with a variety of duties to enhance the individual's life and well-being. This position is similar to caregiving but, as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), with an emphasis on increasing independence for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following:
Support consumers in completing Activities of Daily Living as independently as they are able.

These activities may include:
Accessing the community
• Money management
• Personal hygiene
• Housekeeping duties, including meal shopping and preparation
• Leisure activities, both inside and outside of the home
• Medication management (reminders, enough to last a week etc.)
• Transport or accompany consumers to necessary locations outside the home.
• Participate in case review, consult with appropriate parties to evaluate consumer needs, and plan for continuing services.
• Maintain and submit necessary records in a legible manner, including medication logs, daily progress notes, consumer financial records, time sheets, mileage forms and any other documentation required to provide services for the consumer.
• Implement Individual Service Plan (ISP) to promote the consumer's independence.
• Attend all Remi Vista trainings and department meetings.
• Adhere to PA Responsibility Guidelines and Expectations.
• Teach and promote safety of consumers in their homes and in the community at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Current, valid, California driver's license.
• Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain.
• Current First Aid certification or the ability to obtain.
• Current PRO-ACT certification or the ability to obtain.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals emanating from common household cleaning supplies. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least one year experience preferred
  • Good driving record
  • Must pass background check
  • Must pass physical, TB test, and drug screen
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid drivers license
  • Valid proof of vehicle insurance
  • Must be 21 years old
