Engineering Director
Salary Range: $157,000 – $202,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
Job Summary
The Engineering Director leads the organization’s engineering operations, including project delivery, staff leadership, and technical standards. This role ensures engineering capabilities align with business objectives, oversees product development, and represents the organization within ASTM, AASHTO, NCSPA, and PPI.
This position requires a hands-on technical leader with deep experience in civil engineering, pipe systems, stormwater, hydraulics, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering projects, teams, and workflows to ensure quality, compliance, and on-time delivery.
- Manage and develop engineering staff, including Design Engineers and CAD Technicians.
- Evaluate engineering capacity and define staffing and resource needs.
- Represent the organization on ASTM, AASHTO, NCSPA, and PPI committees; track specification changes and ensure compliance.
- Lead product improvement and new product development initiatives, including:
- Pipe design
- Stormwater modeling
- Hydraulics
- Water quality treatment
- Participate in technical presentations and discussions with engineering firms, agencies, and DOTs.
- Work directly with government agencies and stakeholders to support product specification and application.
- Develop and enforce engineering standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Ensure all engineering solutions meet applicable codes, standards, and industry specifications.
- Provide technical training and mentorship across the organization.
Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related field).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license – required.
- 10 years of engineering experience, including leadership or management responsibility.
- Extensive experience with pipe systems, hydraulics, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing multiple projects.
- Strong working knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO standards.
- Experience with NCSPA and/or PPI standards or committees.
- Experience working with DOTs, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally for industry meetings and training
