The Insurance Benefits Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of insurance benefits and patient financial communication at REM Anesthesia. This position is responsible for verifying benefits, preparing superbills, posting payments, and serving as the main point of contact between patients, the practice, and referring offices regarding financial matters. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and compassionate when discussing financial obligations with patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect necessary insurance information from patients and referring offices.
- Verify and document patient insurance benefits by contacting insurance carriers within 48 hours of receiving patient information.
- Accurately prepare, create, and send superbills to patients.
- Communicate clearly with patients about:
- Their benefits and coverage.
- Out-of-pocket costs and payment responsibilities.
- Payment due dates and available payment options.
- Send reminders for upcoming or overdue payments.
- Post patient payments to accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless patient and office communication.
- Notify referring offices regarding cancellations or reschedules related to financial reasons, including non-payment.
- Update necessary spreadsheets daily
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient and practice information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in medical or dental insurance coordination, billing, or patient financial services preferred.
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification, explanation of benefits (EOBs), and payment posting processes.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to discuss sensitive financial matters professionally and empathetically.
- Proficient in computer systems, practice management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
