Position Overview
The Multifamily HVAC Estimator will play a key role in estimating and supporting HVAC construction projects, with a primary focus on multifamily apartment developments.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC construction, estimating, and project requirements. This position will be responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, completing accurate material and labor takeoffs, preparing competitive bids, communicating with vendors and customers, and ensuring a smooth transition of awarded projects to the Construction Team.
Key Responsibilities
Review blueprints, mechanical plans, specifications, scopes of work, and other project documents.
Perform accurate HVAC material, equipment, and labor takeoffs.
Develop detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
Prepare professional, accurate, and competitive bids and proposals.
Review bid documents for accuracy, completeness, scope requirements, and potential gaps.
Solicit, receive, and evaluate pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
Compare vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure accurate and competitive project pricing.
Identify potential project risks, exclusions, scope concerns, and cost issues.
Maintain organized and accurate estimating documentation.
Prepare detailed cost reports and supporting documentation.
Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, vendors, suppliers, and internal team members.
Participate in pre-bid meetings and project-related discussions as needed.
Assist with value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
Coordinate the successful turnover of awarded projects to the Construction Team.
Maintain accurate records of estimated versus actual project costs to improve future estimating.
Support the team with additional estimating and project-related responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in HVAC estimating, construction estimating, or multifamily HVAC construction is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, construction practices, and project documentation.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, blueprints, and specifications.
Experience performing construction takeoffs and developing detailed estimates.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating or project management software.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple bids, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
Entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to help a growing company succeed.
Strong professional judgment and the ability to identify potential project risks.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required with relevant experience.
Estimator Technician (CET) are a plus.
