Accounting Specialist

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented, financially minded professional to support the financial operations of a residential property management company.

This role focuses on monitoring financial performance, reviewing accounts receivable, following up on outstanding balances, and helping ensure accurate financial reporting.

Property management experience is not required! We welcome candidates with transferable experience in accounts receivable, billing, collections, bookkeeping, accounting support, or financial administration.

Responsibilities

• Monitor property income, expenses, and overall financial performance.
• Review rent collections, outstanding balances, and delinquent accounts.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid balances.
• Review payment plans and repayment agreements.
• Review invoices for accuracy and proper processing.
• Review monthly financial reports and help explain variances.
• Ensure rent revenue and other charges are accurately recorded.
• Prepare and send balance notices to residents.
• Request Notices to Quit (NTQs) for delinquent accounts and coordinate the appropriate next steps in the process.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts receivable, billing, collections, bookkeeping, accounting support, or a related financial role.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Comfortable reviewing financial information, tracking balances, and identifying discrepancies.
• Ability to follow up professionally on outstanding payments and maintain accurate records.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.

Property management experience is a plus, but not required. We are interested in candidates who can bring relevant financial and administrative skills to the role and learn the property-specific processes.
