Architecture Consultant, BIM/VDC

The role of Architecture Consultant, BIM/VDC is tasked with managing digital technology-based tools and processes to facilitate and enhance the design process.  In addition to the support of documentation, extend all aspects of the BIM process and capabilities.

This role is responsible for providing leadership in Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes, ensuring quality control, and managing onsite production support for various projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in BIM management, consulting services, and office-wide BIM implementation.

We are looking for experienced BIM Architects and Engineers or individuals in a similar BIM role and also have firsthand experience working in a design studio. Given the nature of projects and the use of technology, the BIM Architect will be expected to work both at a client location in the NYC metropolitan area, and remote with design teams to provide direct attention and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• 2D Drawing and 3D Model Generation: for business development, marketing, design, and construction administration.

• BIM Model Process Management: collect and coordinate models from internal and external project teams, run clash detection reports, and maintain issue logs.

• Business Development and Marketing: Assist Project Team, Integration Managers, and/or Directors with case studies and presentations on BIM for internal and external education and promotion.

• Onsite BIM Production Support: Collaborate closely with project teams by directing onsite and remote BIM production support throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring efficient production workflows and adherence to project requirements. Contribute to the production process where necessary.

• Onsite BIM Management: Oversee and manage the implementation of BIM processes onsite, coordinating with architects, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of BIM technologies.

• Quality Control: Perform regular quality control reviews of BIM models and deliverables, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with project standards.

• Consulting & Training: Lead consulting efforts to assist clients with BIM integration, training staff onsite, and providing technical expertise to support ongoing BIM initiatives.

• Office-Wide BIM Implementation: Drive the company’s strategic BIM objectives, implementing BIM standards and protocols across all office locations, ensuring team members are properly trained and projects are aligned with the latest industry standards.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design teams to ensure alignment between BIM deliverables and project goals, troubleshooting issues as they arise.

• BIM Standards & Workflow Development: Develop and maintain BIM standards, templates, and workflows to streamline processes and increase efficiency within the organization.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in an accredited industry-related curriculum such as Architecture or Engineering, or equivalent experience

• 3 to 10 years of BIM-related design and architecture experience.

• Knowledge of basic computer applications and software such as MS Office and other programs commonly used in the industry.

• Proficient in 3D parametric modeling software; experience with model coordination, rendering, and animation software.

• Advanced knowledge of BIM software applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Dynamo, Navisworks. Autodesk Revit is required; Bentley Building Design is a plus.

• Proven ability to implement and manage BIM workflows on architecture projects.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

• Demonstrated experience in client-facing roles, providing technical expertise and ensuring customer satisfaction.

• Proven ability to train, mentor, and support cross-functional teams in BIM processes.

• Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.

• Ability to travel to client locations throughout the New York City metropolitan area
