Position Summary

Reid State Technical College is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Coaches to join our athletics program. This vital role supports the holistic growth of student-athletes by fostering academic performance, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The Assistant Coach promotes an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Assistant Coach provides leadership and supervision for both team and individual sports, working closely with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and administration. The position requires working a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Salary Commensurate with education and experience according to the ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule L.

Assistant Volleyball Coach (position filled)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Coach in all operations of Athletics, including coaching staff & personnel, facilities maintenance, fundraising (annual campaigns and capital fundraising), and performance (academic and athletic).
  • Assist Head Coach in compliance with all relevant state and federal rules and regulations, as well as comprehensive standards and core requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Colleges, and the guidelines and rules of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Alabama Community College Conference.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating, on an annual basis, current handbooks and publications for student athletes, which include team rules.
  • Assist with maintaining the Athletics Department Website and ensure all information is current and accurate.
  • Develop and oversee plans related to the well-being of student-athletes, including CPR Training, AED Training, and coordination of athletic trainers.
  • Assist in the annual orientation program for athletes.
  • Assist in developing and disseminating team schedules for all College sporting events.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and official team records, individual records, and program history.
  • Work with Campus Police to coordinate the use of College vehicles for transportation to games, including the identification of qualified bus drivers.
  • Assist the Head Coach in ensuring involvement in local community service opportunities throughout the year.
  • Complete all sports information functions as needed.
  • Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees, students, and visitors. Be an Ambassador for the College.
  • Support the College’s initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Reid State Technical College.
  • Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Reid State Technical College mission.
  • Participate in all College functions.
  • Attend workshops and meetings that contribute to planned professional development.
  • Participate in staff, division, and committee meetings as assigned.
  • Actively participate in division/college committees, as well as campus activities.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior, loyalty, honesty, and integrity, both on and off the campus.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President, Athletic Director, and Head Coach.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college preferred.
  • Have a valid driver’s license, be able to drive, and quality under the district’s insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
