Responsibilities
- Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, furnaces, boilers, and ventilation equipment in residential settings
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to ensure precise system installation
- Conduct system diagnostics using electrical meters such as ohmmeters to troubleshoot issues effectively
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems to optimize performance and extend lifespan
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and building automation system problems using specialized tools and techniques
- Collaborate with customers to explain system features, answer questions, and provide guidance on proper operation and maintenance
- Utilize hand tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools to complete installations and repairs efficiently
Qualifications
- Proven construction experience with a strong understanding of mechanical systems repair and installation processes
- Service technician experience in HVAC or related fields such as plumbing or appliance repair
- Knowledge of HVAC design principles, schematics, electrical diagnostics, refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration is highly desirable
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems, boilers, and property maintenance practices
- Ability to operate hand tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments confidently
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; a
driver license is preferred - EPA certification for handling refrigerants; additional certifications in HVAC/R or electrical diagnostics are a plus
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
- Mechanical knowledge combined with field service experience to troubleshoot equipment issues promptly
