JOB DESCRIPTION
This position schedules operative and other ancillary procedures in the Surgical Services computer software system. Collaborates with personnel from both within and outside the department of surgery to facilitate communication and processes. Assists with verifying or entering post-op data and charges into the computer system for billing.
Verifies surgical log documentation for accuracy and completeness. Processes all surgical and anesthesia department charge records for Regions Hospital Surgical Services and HealthPartners Same Day Surgery by assigning appropriate charge code numbers to facilitate maximum appropriate reimbursement. This position works in a collaborative relationship with Surgical Services staff, Anesthesia staff, Health Information Management, Purchasing, Nursing Leadership, Patient Relations, Business Services, and the Professional and Facility Coding and Billing Departments.
This role requires a high level of competence in utilizing complex specialized Operating Room and other computer systems, excellent telephone etiquette, and strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Three (3) years of computer/data entry experience. Medical or surgical background preferred. Current internal OR Coordinators with 1 year of experience may substitute for lacking experience.
OR
- Three (3) years in a position interacting with the public may substitute for the above experience requirement.
- One to three years of Operating Room experience preferred.
