RSU #23 Loranger Memorial School School Secretary
Located a ½ mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, Loranger Memorial School is a 270-student, grades 38 school within RSU 23 seeking a School Secretary to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate should possess the following:
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Citizenship, residency or work visa
- High School diploma
- Maine Department of Education CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/fingerprinting
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Computer skills commensurate with job requirements and responsibilities
- Proficiency and accuracy in typing and keyboarding with knowledge of basic office procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work with children and adults in a professional, courteous manner
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently, prioritize, and work independently
- Respect for confidentiality in all school matters
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as school receptionist for all public contact, including incoming calls & visitors
- Maintain comprehensive student database and track daily attendance, grades, and accidents/incidents; Powerschool SIS experience preferred
- Compile census data for state and federal reports as appropriate
- Maintain and file student records, correspondence, and confidential files
- Draft, type, and send letters, memos, and reports as assigned
- Maintain school calendars including schedules for conferences, visitors, and meetings
- Generate daily substitute reports and assist in arranging substitute coverage
- In the absence of the school nurse, treat minor injuries and contact parents/guardians as needed
- Assume other duties as directed by the principal for the smooth operation of the school
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year determined by collective bargaining agreement. Position falls under the 20262027 contract (July 1, 2026June 30, 2027); however, the anticipated start date will be in August 2026.
