SUMMARY
This position provides leadership and oversight for Early Childhood educational staff and site operations, ensuring compliance with DCFS, State, Federal, and program requirements. The role is responsible for maintaining a safe, inclusive, and family-centered learning environment while supporting high-quality early learning experiences.
Responsibilities include supervising and evaluating staff, providing reflective supervision, supporting professional growth, and maintaining effective communication with program leadership, families, and governing bodies. This position also oversees compliance systems, data reporting, and documentation requirements, while collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure program quality and continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS
- Professional Educator License with Early Childhood endorsement preferred; OR Associate degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field; OR Equivalent combination of college credit and early childhood coursework as defined by state requirements; OR Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential or equivalent administrative/leadership credential or training.
- CPR certification required or must be obtained within the required timeframe.
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience in early childhood or related educational settings.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a professional and courteous manner.
- Knowledge of DCFS licensing requirements, early childhood program standards, and compliance systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
- Understanding and awareness of multicultural needs.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, families, leadership, and community partners.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs and push/pull up to 10 lbs.
