SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Prevention Initiative Family Educator works with families and children from prenatal to age 3 in Roseville. This position provides weekly center-based visits with children and quarterly personal visits with families to empower parents as their child’s first teacher through goal setting and individualized child development activities.
The Family Educator supports at-risk populations such as limited-English proficient families, pregnant or parenting teens, families with low literacy levels, and remote or isolated families. In addition to direct family engagement, this position collaborates with schools, agencies, and community partners to provide resources, ensure smooth transitions, and maximize the effective use of grant funds.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS
- Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public.
- Enforce ROE regulations and policies in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
- Be certified as a Parents as Teachers Family Educator.

The Regional Office of Education is an intermediate agency between the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts. The Regional Office of Education #33 works with nine districts across the four counties: Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren. We have eight programs and nine different services, with over 200 employees throughout the four counties. These programs and services can be anything from parenting classes and professional development for area educators to bus driver training, fingerprinting, and much more.
