RMC/ RFH Self Pay Billing Clerk

Description

Schedule: Part time, day shift, 2 x 8-hour days week 1, 3 x 8-hour days week 2 (rotation), no weekends or holidays

This position performs guarantor self pay functions of Regional Medical Center (RMC) for the Business Services Department in accordance with hospital and departmental standards and policies.

• Facilitates account collections process by sending monthly statements, making phone calls and
  setting up and maintaining formal monthly payment plans
• Applies guarantor payments using Self Pay Remittance in Cerner Revenue Cycle
• Supplies itemized statements to patients upon request
• Refers accounts to external monitoring and collection agencies
• Monitors accounts from Accounts Receivable by following up on accounts in collector work
  queues in Cerner Revenue Cycle
• Prepares refunds due to patients
• Responds to patient inquiries regarding charges and account balances
• Stays informed of current billing practices and procedures
• May post payments/adjustments to RMC & RFH accounts and reconciles with cashier
• Verifies the patient is truly self pay by checking for eligibility on insurance websites or past
  account history information
• Verifies services, charges and self pay discounts
• Assists patients with Financial Assistance applications
• May assist with insurance follow up on accounts when time allows
• May scan insurance Explanation of Benefits and insurance denials and/or letters to Business Services Daily Deposit folder
• May scan and index insurance and personal checks in Business Services Daily Deposit folder
• Posts Charges
• Receive and process accounts in bankruptcy and follow procedures and policy for bankruptcy

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Associates Degree in business-related field or related work experience preferred

Salary : $21 - $27
