POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of a company’s reports and statements.
POSITION GOALS
- Review financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance.
- Assist in resolving accounting and financial problems and/or issues.
- Organize and update financial records.
- Prepare documentation for external auditors.
- Responsible for issuance of 1099 forms at the end of the year.
- Assist Director of Finance with grant management and compliance.
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Chief Financial Officer and/or /Director of Finance.
- Make daily deposits and maintain petty cash.
- Responsible for paying bills and keeping files on billing.
- Assist in the preparation for and execution of the annual financial audit.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- College degree in relevant field and equivalent work experience.
- Associate degree in accounting with relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of 4 year degree.
Skills and Abilities
- Thorough understanding of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial management information requirements.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel software.
- Experience using accounting software
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate the work of others.
- It is useful if the incumbent has a background working with governmental agencies and other nonprofits.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, dynamic, and creative professional with entrepreneurial spirit.
- Maintain working knowledge and understanding of the office machines, procedures and computer programs used by the food bank.
- Work closely with other staff members and departments as needed.
- Strong attention to detail
- Maintain strict confidentiality

- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or CFO
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position works in an office environment and requires sitting at a computer for prolonged periods of time.

Salary : $58,673 - $80,606
