What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optical Shop Manager/Optician position at Reginald D. Barnes?
Our ophthalmology practice needs an Optical Manager/ Optician to join our team. We run an efficient and friendly office with no weekend hours and one Ophthalmologist on staff. The successful candidate should be prepared to work up to 40 hours per week and should be knowledgeable in fitting glasses, single vision, bifocals and progessives. We sell frames in-house and use an edger to make glasses in house. Candidate should be open to learning how to make lenses. Our patients expect fast, friendly service and attention to detail when fitting corrective lenses.
Duties include:
Review Physician's prescriptions and orders based on medical charts
- Educate patients on their corrective lens options and help them make a choice that fits their medical needs as well as lifestyle preferences
- Provide honest but compassionate feedback about aesthetic choices in frames
- Achieve sales goals and quotas as determined by office staff while attending to patients' specific needs and desires
- Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and product variety
- Communicate with physician with questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues
- Be familiar with dispensing glasses under Medicaid, VSP, and Spectera and other vision plans.
- Be able to read lenses under the lensometer to determine prescription
Qualifications
1- 3 years experience
Experience with fitting contact lenses and glasses
Must have excellent customer service skills
Bilingual is a plus
Licensed optician preferred
