The Academic Evaluator supports Regent University's retention efforts by providing high-level administrative and academic assistance to the advising team. Operating behind the scenes, this role researches and processes complex student matters such as academic petitions, readmission applications, and escalated advising issues. The position works closely with faculty, deans, program chairs, and the Registrar’s Office to ensure accurate application of university policies and school-specific program requirements.

Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Salary: $38,00-43,000 annually

Essential Duties

  • Acquire and maintain expert-level knowledge of Regent University’s undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, including school-specific academic policies, program content, course sequences, advising procedures, and foundational financial aid processes such as FAFSA requirements, SAP appeals, and verification to effectively support academic advisors and coordinate with appropriate internal departments.
  • Support the academic advising team by researching complex advising tasks and serving as a liaison with academic leadership including deans, program chairs, and faculty to facilitate the academic petition process through timely communication, accurate documentation, and consistent policy interpretation.
  • Support recurring retention and academic progress initiatives by performing student record audits for graduation eligibility, dissertation and thesis readiness, and other milestone reviews in coordination with academic advisors and school leadership.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of student-related resources including intake protocols, transfer procedures, licensure guidelines, academic support services, and institutional processes to support accurate petition review, readmission evaluation, and milestone audit completion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2–3 years of experience in academic advising, student services, higher education administration, or a related field

Candidates Must Have

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with the capacity to establish rapport
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret academic policy, degree requirements, and curriculum structures across a variety of academic disciplines
  • Must be motivated, coachable, and effective in a production-driven work environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, and weekends including occasional Saturdays
  • Reliable transportation to travel to and from work in a timely manner
  • Competent in or able to be trained on relevant systems including CRM platforms, Microsoft Suite, Canvas, Cognos, Degree Works, and phone systems, with the ability to multi-task and type at least 40 WPM
