Qualifications:
- CDL License: You must hold a valid Michigan CDL with the appropriate endorsements for the type of instruction you will be providing. The specific endorsements required may depend on the type of vehicles (e.g., Class A or B) and/or specialized knowledge you will be teaching (e.g., passenger, hazardous materials).
- Medical Examiner's Certificate: You must pass a DOT physical examination and hold a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate as required by federal regulations.
- Drug Screening: Must comply with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program regulations, including pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Clean Driving Record: Minimal or no traffic violations, accidents, or convictions. Certain offenses may disqualify applicants.
- Knowledge and Expertise: Strong understanding of Michigan traffic laws, commercial vehicle regulations, and industry best practices, including vehicle systems, safety procedures, and logbook regulations.
- Teaching Skills: Strong communication and instructional abilities, with the ability to adapt to different learning styles and manage a classroom or training environment.
- Background Checks: Must be willing to undergo a background check, including criminal history and driver record review.
Key Responsibilities:
- Practical Training: Provide hands-on instruction in commercial vehicle operation, including pre-trip inspections, maneuvering, and on-road driving.
- Student Evaluation: Assess student progress through written, practical, and driving evaluations, and provide constructive feedback.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and required documentation.
- Communication & Collaboration: Work with students, instructors, and staff to coordinate training and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Continuing Education: Stay up to date on industry trends, regulations, and training methods.
- Professional Conduct: Demonstrate professionalism and serve as a role model for students.
Pay & Benefits:
- $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
- 2 weeks of vacation (separate from PTO)
