What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Assistant Teacher position at Refuge Early Learning Center (formerly known as Precious Lambs ELC)?

Our goal as a school is to provide a Christ-centered, caring, high-quality education. We do this by supporting our teachers with low student to teacher ratios and enrollment in the TEACH scholarship (a state of North Carolina run program that helps pay college tuition for those seeking a degree in early childhood education).
Your job, should you choose to accept it, would be to assist the lead teachers in providing a warm, nurturing, Christ-centered, safe, and loving environment in which children can grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. You would do this by helping to manage the classroom, interact with children during daily activities, assist in planning learning activities, keep the learning environment in working order, and maintain good communication with families.
We currently have 2 positions available for this upcoming school year with positions starting no earlier than August 7th, 2026.
Qualifications:
- Must have or be willing to complete the NC DCDEE Background Check
- Must have or be willing to complete a TB test
- Must have or be willing to complete Pediatric 1st Aid & CPR training
- We are looking for someone who is kind and joyful
- Must love teaching and caring for children
- Is able to get along with co-workers and is willing to help however needed in each classroom.
- Highly responsible
- Able to supervise children safely in the classroom and on the playground
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour

Experience:
- childcare or education: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
- Early Childhood Education Certificate (Preferred)
- 1st Aid & CPR Certification (Preferred)
