Working Hours: Regular hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm but must have a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business (schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays). Responds to store-based emergencies as needed.

Job Summary: The Safety & Fleet Operations Specialist will be responsible for the support of safety and fleet initiatives for the company, working closely with leadership & the field. These initiatives are designed to minimize exposure to expense and loss associated with worker’s compensation claims, general liability claims, automobile claims, building damage, loss of tangible assets or business interruption due to fire, flood, or natural disasters, as well environmental issues, and regulatory compliance. The Safety & Fleet Operations Specialist will support the safety and fleet efforts throughout the organization, providing procedures and policies for a safe environment and taking responsibility for implementing and overseeing all corporate safety & fleet programs, training, and compliance matters.

• Adhere to the Company’s established policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and apply them appropriately.
• Knowledge of OSHA's federal, state regulations as well as local safety, health, environmental, and worker's compensation laws and regulations.
• Responsible for OSHA reporting and recordkeeping to include monthly updates on company performance regarding TRIR/ORIR.
• Implements corporate directives related to and including hazard assessments, approved practices, data analysis, and metrics analyses.
• Trains and supports operations to ensure quality personal injury and accident investigation processes are utilized.
• Identifies and analyzes factors that may contribute to injuries, accidents, unsafe conditions, or enable multiple accidents and implement mitigation strategies.
• Leads cross-functional Safety Committee in their efforts including monthly meeting, minutes, resolutions, initiatives, recommendations, training, etc.
• Develops, requests, and reviews incident reporting to focus efforts on injury trends and corrective actions.
• Communicates risk management and safety issues and objectives to company team members.
• Partners with HR to develop, facilitate, coordinate, and monitor safety and compliance training programs and foster a strong safety culture.
• Works on organizational-level projects to improve overall profitability by reducing risk & loss.
• Designs, implements, and maintains safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the unique risks of convenience store operations,
• Audits implementation of programs and ensure strategy for sustainable compliance and acts as a point of contact for our annual policy audit.
• Manages our fleet of company-owned vehicles in partnership with our 3rd party support partner. This includes maintaining an accurate database of vehicles and drivers, ensuring our 3rd party is keeping up with tax, tag, & title work, ensuring our drivers are staying safe and keeping up with vehicle maintenance, and other fleet operations tasks.
• Runs Motor Vehicle Record Checks on potential hires and current employees to ensure compliance with company policies and insurance requirements.
• Exhibits sound judgement and make informed decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: An ideal candidate will have experience with or understanding of:
• Strong analytical skills: able to identify trends and develop root cause solutions.
• Strong organizational skills: able to put together detailed reports and maintain case files.
• Strong oral and written communication skills & the ability to work with others at all levels of the organization.
Education and Experience: An ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree
• 2-3 years’ experience in safety and fleet operations
• Experienced with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, & Excel.
Working environment and physical requirements:
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
• Must be able to remain stationary.
Travel:
• Must be able to travel up to 20%.
