Reports to: Sr. Manager, Loss Prevention & Business Continuity

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

Work Location: Corporate Headquarters, North Charleston, SC

Working Hours: Regular hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm but must have a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business (schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays). Responds to store-based emergencies as needed.

Job Summary: The Manager, Safety and Loss Prevention Investigations & Innovation is responsible for leading Refuel’s safety, security, and investigative functions to protect company assets, people, and reputation. This role is responsible for driving excellence in regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and loss prevention operations. The manager leads company-wide internal theft and organized retail crime (ORC) investigations, manages all security and alarm technologies, and ensures effective handling of safety programs. Serving as both a strategic leader and hands-on investigator, this role is also charged with modernizing Refuel’s loss prevention and safety programs through technology, data analytics, and continuous process improvement.

Leadership & Oversight

• Lead and develop direct reports, providing mentorship, performance management, and ongoing professional development.

• Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and innovation within the Safety and Loss Prevention departments.

• Collaborate closely with the Sr. Manager, Loss Prevention & Business Continuity, to implement strategic initiatives aligned with company objectives.

• Adhere to the Company’s established policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Loss Prevention & Investigations

• Oversee and conduct internal theft, organized retail crime (ORC), and fraud investigations across all Regions.

• Partner with law enforcement agencies, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to ensure investigations are handled effectively and in compliance with applicable laws.

• Analyze loss trends and develop strategies to reduce shrink, fraud, and operational risks.

• Maintain and manage all investigative case files, reports, and evidence (including CCTV, POS data, and witness statements) with accuracy and confidentiality.

• Lead recovery efforts and restitution processes for theft and fraud-related incidents.

Technology & Innovation

• Manage and continuously improve all physical security systems, including CCTV, alarm monitoring, safes, key management, and access control platforms.

• Serve as the company’s subject matter expert for LP technology, leading modernization initiatives that leverage analytics, automation, and data-driven insights.

• Manage LP and Safety Work Orders to improve responsiveness, tracking, and accountability.

• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to enhance loss prevention, safety, and operational visibility.

Training & Communication

• Develop and deliver training programs for field and corporate teams on theft prevention.

• Communicate key loss prevention performance metrics to leadership on a regular basis.

Strategic & Analytical Responsibilities

• Analyze incident, claim, and theft data to identify systemic issues and drive process improvements.

• Recommend policy changes and operational strategies that reduce risk exposure and improve profitability.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Operations, Facilities, and IT to align LP goals with broader business initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

An ideal candidate will have experience with or understanding of:

• Strong analytical skills: able to identify trends and develop root cause solutions.

• Strong organizational skills: able to put together detailed reports and maintain case files.

• Strong oral and written communication skills & the ability to work with others at all levels of the organization.

• Strong knowledge of current & emerging Loss Prevention & Safety Technologies.

Education and Experience:

An ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree

• 5-10 years’ experience in loss prevention, investigations, and/or loss prevention technology

• Experienced with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, & Excel.

Working environment and physical requirements:

• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.

• Must be able to remain stationary.

Travel:

• Must be able to travel up to 25%.
