Contract Role: Space Planner & Commercial Furniture Specialist
Location: Southern California (San Gabriel Valley/Inland Empire/LA/OC | Type: 1099 Contract | Hours: Project-Based / Flexible
Compensation: $40–$55/hr DOE
About the Opportunity
We are a commercial furniture dealership serving clients across the San Gabriel Valley and greater Los Angeles area. As our project pipeline grows, we're looking for an experienced contract professional to support space planning, furniture specification, and order coordination on an as-needed basis. We specialize in banks/financial institutions and office space. This is a 1099 role with flexible scheduling — ideal for a working designer or industry professional looking to pick up meaningful project work.
What You'll Do
- Develop furniture layouts and space plans using CAP Studio, CET Designer, 2020, Sketch Up or similar tools
- Specify commercial furniture products across multiple lines such as 9 to 5, Encore, Ofgo
- Provide color renderings and 2D/3D layouts using room measurements or as-builts
- Coordinate orders from submission through delivery and installation
- Manage vendor communication, lead time tracking, and PO processing
- Support and create client-facing presentations and product selections when needed
- Collaborate with the principal on active projects and proposal development
- Possible occasion travel for on-site measurements
What We're Looking For
Required
- 3 years of experience in commercial furniture, interior design, or a dealership environment
- Proficiency in space planning software (CAP Studio, CET, 2020, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of dealer workflows: quoting, purchase orders, lead times, install coordination
- Self-directed and comfortable working with minimal oversight
- Strong communication skills — written and verbal
- You have a positive outlook on life and enjoy the work you do
Preferred
- Existing relationships with commercial furniture manufacturers or reps
- Experience with commercial interiors and textiles
- Southern California market knowledge
