Freshman Volleyball Coach

Summary
Reed City High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Freshman Volleyball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for volleyball and a commitment to developing the skills and character of young athletes. This position will involve coaching the freshman team, fostering a positive team environment, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily practice sessions that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
• Develop and implement game plans for competitions, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the volleyball program.
• Provide instruction on fundamental volleyball skills, including serving, passing, setting, and hitting.
• Monitor and assess the performance of athletes, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
• Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages participation, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
• Organize and supervise team events, including practices, games, and team meetings.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of players for the volleyball program.
• Collaborate with other coaching staff and school personnel to enhance the overall athletic experience for students.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience or a strong background in volleyball, either as a player or coach.
• Knowledge of the rules and strategies of volleyball.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Ability to create a positive and inclusive team environment.
• First Aid/CPR certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain prior to the season.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends for practices and games during the season.
• A commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is a plus.
