Warehouse Outbound Lead

Position Summary

The Outbound Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily outbound warehouse activities, including order picking, order checking, packing, and shipment preparation. This position serves as the frontline leader for outbound associates, ensuring productivity, accuracy, quality, and safety goals are achieved while maintaining efficient order flow and on-time customer shipments.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Support

• Lead, train, and support outbound associates in picking, checking, and packing operations.
• Assign daily work tasks and monitor labor utilization to meet operational goals.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and on-the-job training.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
• Serve as the first point of contact for operational issues during the shift.

Picking Operations

• Monitor order selection activities to ensure productivity and accuracy standards are met.
• Ensure orders are picked according to customer requirements and established procedures.
• Assist pickers with troubleshooting inventory discrepancies and operational challenges.
• Support workflow balancing to maintain consistent throughput.

Order Checking & Quality Control

• Verify order accuracy before shipment.
• Ensure all products, quantities, lot codes, and special customer requirements are properly checked.
• Investigate and resolve picking and shipment errors.
• Maintain high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Packing Operations

• Oversee packing associates to ensure orders are packaged safely and accurately.
• Verify appropriate packaging materials are used to minimize product damage.
• Ensure packing stations remain organized and efficient.
• Manage workflow to ensure orders are packed and ready for shipment on schedule.

Operational Performance

• Monitor key performance metrics throughout the shift.
• Communicate volume expectations, priorities, and operational updates to team members.
• Assist management with labor planning and staffing recommendations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce company safety policies and warehouse procedures.
• Conduct safety observations and address unsafe conditions immediately.
• Ensure proper use of equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of warehouse or distribution center experience.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and WMS applications.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and peak-season schedules as needed.
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
