Salary: $65,000–$90,000/year; Based on experience
Location: Albany, NY (On-site)

Experience: 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing industry experience preferred
Education: Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Skills: Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems required

Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team in Albany, NY.

The Accountant will serve as a key resource and backup to the Controller, making this an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded accounting professional who is comfortable handling both day-to-day accounting responsibilities and more advanced financial functions.

Responsibilities of the Accountant will include:

• Serve as a key accounting resource and work closely with the Controller on departmental responsibilities and projects.
• Assist the Controller with higher-level accounting duties and provide coverage during absences.
• Support timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Assist with general ledger activities and the preparation of accurate financial statements.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Verify, enter, and process invoices and perform daily credit card reconciliations.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with vendors.
• Cross-train on accounting functions and assist with departmental overflow as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with team members throughout the organization and perform additional accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications for the role of Accountant:

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
• Experience working with ERP and related systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, bookkeeping software, and data entry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
• Ability to maintain discretion when working with confidential and sensitive information.
• Adaptability and willingness to cross-train and support changing departmental needs.
