Description:

Oversees implementation of FSQA protection policies and programs. Provides technical expertise to the organization in FSQA, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action. These services include, but are not limited to; Verify all daily USDA and FDA regulatory policies and procedures including HAACP, SOP's, SSOP's, and GMP's are being followed, adhering to Red’s All Natural policies and procedures, regulatory compliance with USDA, FDA, customer requirements, customer complaints, design of plant systems, 3rd party audits, SQF audits, micro and ATP testing, pest control, development and training of QC techs, and assessing needs and facilitating communication among employees and management.

Requirements:

Duties and responsibilities

  • SUPERVISION. Daily's FSQA plans and systems. Will be responsible for the day to day activities of all FSQA policies and procedures and plant quality activities including scheduling, auditing checks and paperwork, interaction and communication across departments.
  • POLICIES & PROCEDURES. Communicates, and trains Red’s employees on written policies and procedures. Formulates and recommends new policies. Conducts a continuing visual review of all GMP's, SQF, QA, SSOP's, and Food Safety policies, programs and practices. Supports operations in ensuring that training, testing, and product development is done in compliance with applicable USDA, customer, and company standards.
  • USDA. Interact with USDA and FDA on all levels concerning issues with plant policies, facility, and programs. Daily interaction and direction of subordinates with respect to local representative and higher officials. Maintain and verify all required records and production paperwork.
  • COMPLIANCE. Ensures compliance with all USDA and company Food Safety and QA policies and procedures. Responsible for assigned locations which ensure that mandatory information is maintained pursuant to company policies and procedures. Conduct investigations with support of operations and support departments, to ensure consistency. Ensures that the company's product hold policies and procedures are communicated to plant staff and recommends, as appropriate, the suspension of production or the release of product when quality standards are not achieved.
  • TRAINING & ORIENTATION. Assist in the development and training of programs relating to all areas of HACCP, food safety, and QA policies and procedures. Conduct semi-annual training on QA and food safety related topics to ensure compliance with USDA, customer, and management development topics.
  • FEDERAL & STATE COMPLIANCE. Works closely with operations to assist in ensuring compliance with USDA and FDA requirements.
  • COMMUNICATIONS. Responds to questions regarding the understanding, interpretation, and implementation of food safety, QA, and R&D policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one-year experience in a QA/ Food Safety generalist role with supervisory experience in a food manufacturing/production environment.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations relating to: General QA, USDA, FDA, Food Safety Audits, Labeling, Micro testing, GMP and SSOP programs.
  • Ability to work well with others with diverse backgrounds and at various organizational levels.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver professional services.
  • Talent for multitasking, with superior attention to detail and organized.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Bi-lingual skills not required but preferred.

Preferred

  • HACCP/GFSI certification preferred
  • Internal auditing
  • PCQI certification preferred
  • Experience in a 24-hour manufacturing facility in quality or food safety

Required

  • Minimum of One (1) year of QA experience in a food facility or food internship program.
  • Flexibility hours 10-to-12-hour shifts

Physical Demands

  • Continuous standing in one location for long periods (up to 2-3 hours before break); up to 10-hour shifts
  • Climbing or moving on ladders, steps, stairwells, walkways, and platforms,
  • Carrying, lifting, lowering, pushing and pulling of heavy and/or awkward objects or loads. Lifting and lowering of objects up to 50 lbs. Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching, pulling, lifting, extending, flexing the hands and arms to perform tasks. A variety of arm and hand movements are required in applying force, movement and repetition.
  • May be subject to reach, kneel, climb, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist 66% of work shift

Work Environment

  • This position operates in a professional office environment and within in the manufacturing operation.
  • The role may routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and other office equipment.
  • All required GMP and PPE for plant operational safety is expected to be used.
  • Position requires ability to communicate and work well with peers.
  • Regular exposure to cold, hot and or humid conditions
  • Climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations
  • Frequently works near moving and mechanical parts
  • Possible exposure to fumes and air borne particles
  • Ability to work in close spaces
  • Loud noise environment to be expected
  • Subjected to changing of priorities, time pressures, constraints and high level of related stress
  • May be required to use hearing, eye and toe protection when working around moving machinery
