This position is a hybrid role requiring employees to work from our headquarters location in Seattle, WA every Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote all other days. The Production Engineering team at Redfin is currently seeking a Cloud Database Engineer II. This is an integral contributor who is responsible for the foundation that powers Redfin's data and cloud infrastructure (network, storage, database, compute). The Cloud Database Engineer II will help support databases across our cloud environment. They’ll ensure system performance, smooth operation, and best practices are being followed. They’ll also collaborate with engineers on both platform and feature teams to ensure our systems are operating well within the larger Redfin environment. This role requires depth in design, collaboration with internal teams, a proactive approach to problem solving, and an ability to optimize and tune our databases for maximum efficiency. Who You Are: You have expertise and development skills in building, scaling, and supporting database technologies (Postgres, Aurora RDS, event streaming, caching). You have worked with cloud databases including provisioning, automation, scaling/performance, and replication. You understand the what/why/how of infrastructure protocols and architecture. You have experience with database performance tuning, troubleshooting databases, and performance issues. You love to build tooling for common DBA processes and to automate! Responsibilities: You will support database architecture projects with a focus on reliability, throughput, scalability, and security. You will build observability to proactively detect and prevent performance issues. You will perform DBA duties in non-production and production environments, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, and migration. You will use infrastructure as code and configuration management tools to ensure consistency. You will use approved AI code generation tools to document, architect, and create code. You will maintain configuration of PostgreSQL instances including replication setup, parameter settings, and identification of appropriate instance types/sizes. You will use approved AI code generation tools to document, architect, and create code You will participate in high availability and disaster recovery planning/drills. You will use your systems knowledge to help scaling and performance for every service at Redfin. You will participate in an on-call rotation about one week per month. Minimum Qualifications and Skills: 3 years experience in cloud / AWS environments 3 years managing a cloud database instances (i.e. RDS, Aurora, or on EC2) 3 years of PostgreSQL (or similar) database engineering and administration. Shell scripting and Python script development. Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure as code tools Experience in an Agile environment and production infrastructure on call. Experience using AI code generation tools tools such as GitHub CoPilot, Anthropic Claude Code, Cursor, or similar. Experience with Linux administration and Linux scripting. Preferred Qualifications and Skills: AWS Certified Database - Specialty Software or Systems Development experience. Expertise in RDS (Postgres) databases and Non-Relational databases such as (Redis, Snowflake). The compensation information below is provided in compliance with all applicable disclosure requirements. Base Pay Range: $113,900.00 - 154,100.00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs. Compensation may also include bonuses and equity. Such as your social security number, driver’s license number, race or ethnic origin, medical condition, and physical or mental disability. Inferences and Preferences. Such as inferences and preferences reflecting an Applicant’s preferences, characteristics, attitudes, behaviors, and abilities. 3. Where Do We Get Your Personal Information? We generally collect the categories of Personal Information identified above from the following categories of sources: Directly from you; From recruiters and recruiting platforms; From publicly available information and sources; From former employers (with your prior permission); From our service providers, representatives, and agents; and From any references you provide. 4. Why Do We Collect Personal Information? Evaluate Candidacy. We may disclose Personal Information when it is necessary to provide services you request and where it is necessary to identify Applicants, schedule interviews, and otherwise evaluate your qualifications and eligibility for employment. Protection of Us and Others. How Long Do We Retain Personal Information? We store your Personal Information for as long as needed, or permitted, based on the reason why we obtained it (consistent with applicable law). When deciding how long to keep your Personal Information, we consider whether we are subject to any legal obligations (e.g., any laws that require us to keep records for a certain period of time before we can delete them) or whether we have taken any legal positions that require data retention (e.g., issued any legal holds or otherwise need to preserve data). Rather than delete your Personal Information, we may also deidentify it in accordance with the CCPA, by removing identifying details. If we deidentify any Personal Information, we will not attempt to reidentify it. 7. Security Redfin takes reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and physical measures designed to protect the Personal Information we collect from accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access. Please be aware that despite our efforts, no data security measures can guarantee security. You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your passwords and login details. 8. How You Can Update Your Personal Information It is important that the information contained in our records is both accurate and current. We offer various self-help functions within our recruitment platform that will allow you to update your Personal Information. If your Personal Information changes during the interview process, you can use these self-help tools to update your Personal Information. 9. Your California Privacy Rights A.
