Red Tail Acquisitions is seeking a People Operations Generalist Intern to join our Irvine office for a 10-week paid summer internship. This role provides hands-on exposure to the administrative and operational side of HR and People Operations, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how HR supports the employee experience from onboarding through offboarding.
Interns will be mentored by a senior leader at Red Tail Acquisitions, and many will have the opportunity to work directly with our leadership team on assigned, real-world special projects. This is a highly administrative internship designed to build foundational HR knowledge, systems experience, and professional workplace skills in a collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do
As a People Operations Generalist Intern, you will support the People Operations team with a variety of administrative and operational responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with reviewing time entries, commissions, bonuses, and payroll-related data for accuracy
- Supporting onboarding processes by preparing and processing new hire paperwork and entering employee data into HRIS/payroll systems
- Maintaining accurate digital and physical personnel records in compliance with company standards
- Helping track employee time-off balances including vacation, sick leave, and other absences
- Supporting new hire communications to ensure a smooth first 90 days
- Assisting with payroll audit support and identifying potential discrepancies
- Processing wage adjustments, deductions, garnishments, and related payroll items as needed
- Supporting workers’ compensation claim tracking and documentation
- Assisting with distribution of pay-related materials and coordination with site locations
- Coordinating exit interviews for voluntary terminations when requested
- Supporting initial intake of employee questions or concerns and escalating appropriately
- Running reports and assisting with data audits
- Supporting monthly and quarterly labor/statistical reporting
- Assisting with general administrative tasks and special HR projects
- Real-world exposure to People Operations, payroll, and HR systems
- Insight into behind-the-scenes HR functions that support employees daily
- Hands-on experience with HR administrative processes and compliance
- Direct mentorship from senior leadership at Red Tail Acquisitions

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited program, Real Estate, Hospitality or Property Management preferred.
- Sophomore year completed by start of Internship, preferred.
- High school diploma required (currently enrolled in or pursuing higher education preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple administrative tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
- ADP Workforce Now experience preferred
- ADP eTIME (Enterprise eTIME) experience preferred
- Payroll or ADP certification preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
